Saturday was the 2nd Cyber Patriot Meeting. Seven cadets traveled to the national guard base at Jefferson Barracks to speak with the MOCyber team. Cyber Patriot is a program inside of JROTC that exposes cadets to cyber security. In the Cyber Patriot competition teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cyber security vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money. Teams have around 5-6 cadets on them. Our unit had 15 cadets sign up and plans to have 2-3 teams. Cadets Ryan Luedloff, Megan Krajewski, Emma Scott, Piskor Gregory, Jimmy Kirtley, Clare Bueckendorf, and Nik Zara attended the trip.
Sahand Darwish and Oscar Downey are the current Cyber Officers for the unit.
