What is Drill? Drill is like fancy walking.A drill team is a group of cadets who perform in ceremonies or competitions by demonstrating their skill and precision in the execution of specific movements following commands. Drill, however, is not as complicated as it sounds; in fact, it's easy! If you think about it like fancy walking, after all, it's a cakewalk. In other words, a Drill Team is a group of people who do drill to win competitions and show off the skills of the MO81st.
What Drill Teams are offered? The MO81st currently only offers one main drill team which typically follows exhibition/regulation team standards; however, we are looking to expand into other teams and explore new opportunities.
What are the requirements to be a part of a Drill Team? Only Missouri 81st cadets are allowed to be members of any drill team, however, no cadet has to be a member of a team, as it is purely optional. Having said that, drill is integral to the building of character and can effectively teach cadets to discipline if they're willing to learn it.
Info about Exhibition Drill Teams: Exhibition drill is a modified routine that involves complex marching sequences, that usually deviate from standard/regulation drill. Teams performing exhibition drills are often affiliated with military units, but the scope of exhibition drills is not limited to military drill teams. Exhibition drill is often performed by the Armed Forces.

Individual Armed, Individual Unarmed:Individual Armed is a single-person routine with a model rifle, Individual Unarmed is a single-person routine without a model rifle
What is Orienteering? Orienteering is a 'treasure hunt' like activity. You use a map, a compass, and a clue sheet to locate designated control flags for points. We compete as teams with the St. Louis Orienteering Club (STLOC) and go for fun. It is outdoors and usually takes place on Saturdays and Sundays in parks around the greater St. Louis Area. During the second semester, we take an overnight field trip to the Lake of the Ozarks for an 8 hour competition.
What Orienteering teams are offered? We offer a competitive and a recreational team. We also have had multiple of each previously to accommodate large numbers of interest in the event. For the Lake of the Ozarks trip, we have several recreational and competitive teams. We also allow cadets to participate in a course under our group memberships as a single or duo team. (Specific stipulations apply for this form of team that do not apply for others)
What are the requirements to be a part of an Orienteering Team? Any student at LHS can be a part of the Orienteering Team as long as they have turned in a permission slip for the club. Cadets are expected to adhere to standard LHS rules and policies while participating in events, and failure to do so will result in removal from a team. If a cadet is removed from a team for any reason, they will not be allowed to re-join in the future. Specific other requirements apply for field trips and overnight events.
What is Raiders Team? Raider Competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the world. Events take place outdoors and usually consists of individual strength tests, distance team running events, first aid events, and some form of rope bridge construction/crossing.
What Raider's Teams are offered? One Raiders team is offered. All participating cadets are on said team.
What are the requirements to be a part of the Raiders Team? And cadet can be a part of the team. Cadets must be willing to work toward physical fitness, and should plan to improve their physical condition through training and hard work.
Are their competitions for the Raiders Team? YES! There are competitions for the raiders team. Our unit has yet to participate in one, but would love to get a team up and running that is fit enough to go out and participate in a competition!

What is CyberPatriot? CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program. There are three main programs within CyberPatriot: the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, AFA CyberCamps and the Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative. CyberPatriot was conceived by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.
What is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition? At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
What are the requirements to be a part of CyberPatriot? Any cadet can be on a CyberPatriot team! There are no perquisites. All are welcome to join!
